L’Abbe was the fastest of 68 competitors at the Seneca Invitational women’s cross country race last Saturday. The second-year science in nursing major ran a six kilometre time of 24:24, sixteen seconds ahead of the second place finisher, reigning OCAA champion Janelle Hanna of Fanshawe. L’Abbe improved her time by four minutes and 34 seconds on the same course last season. OCAA cross country runners have one more tune-up race on Oct. 13 at Centennial College before racing at provincials on Oct. 27 at the University of Toronto Scarborough.

On August 5th, multisport athletes convened in Kingston to compete in the duathlon, triathlon or the long course triathlon.  Jesse the Elf and Kaitlyn L’Abbe won the overall men’s and women’s race.

The CCAA National Scholar Award recognizes the outstanding academic accomplishments of student-athletes. To be recognized, a student-athlete must achieve honours standing at their institution in the current academic year.

KAITLYN L’ABBE NAMED TO OCAA THREE STARS OF THE WEEK

Women’s cross country runner Kaitlyn L’Abbe was named an OCAA star of the week for his accomplishments during the seven-day period ending Sunday, Sept. 30.

L’Abbe was the fastest of 68 competitors at the Seneca Invitational women’s cross country race last Saturday.

The Georgian Grizzlies men’s and women’s cross country teams took part in their first OCAA cross country race of the season on Saturday at the Seneca Invitational held in King City. 

Kaitlyn L’Abbe (Ottawa) had a tremendous day on the course posting the fastest time of the day in the women’s race completing the 6km track in a time of just 24:24 finishing 16 seconds ahead of the next closest competitor.

The recognized Provincial governing body of Multisport in Ontario, crowned eight Provincial Champions and celebrated the Cup Series winners in six of the eight competitions in Welland over the weekend.

Overall, it was Maddy Kennedey taking home the trophy and the $750 first place prize money, Kaitlyn L’Abbe in second and earning $500 and Raylan Stroud in third position earning $250.
